Afrian American Girl Center.jpeg

Every parent wants our Eastchester schools to inspire imagination, cultivate critical thinking, and ensure our children can live fulfilling lives.

Our vision is to help supplement district budgets and provide additional resources to make Eastchester Union Free School District one of the best in the New York state.

Freedom to learn is joining together with educators and other partners to ensure our schools have the materials, innovative/differentiated curricula, and emotional supports to set students for success. â€‹

We will be applying for grants focusing on three key areas:

Bridge Covid Learning Gaps

Mental Health Support

School Climate and Culture

Bridge Learning Gaps

While great strides have been made, some students still need to catch up on unfinished learning.

Nationwide, NWEA MAP scores show that younger students are progressing more quickly.  In Eastchester, 3rd grade students tested 85% proficient in ELA vs. 8th graders at 72%. (www.eufsdk12.org)

Mental Health Support

A large majority of public schools reported an increase in students seeking mental health services during the pandemic, yet only 56% of schools agreed that they can effectively provide services to all students in need.

(National Center for Education Statistics, 5/31/22)

School Climate and Culture

School climate refers to the school's effect on students including diversity, teaching practices, and the relationship among administrators, teachers, parents and students.

School culture refers to how the school and teachers work together and the set of values, beliefs, and assumptions they share.

Positive school climate and culture improves students ability to learn.
